2014 Vietti Barolo ‘ Castiglione’ (Nebbiolo)Barolo Piemonte :

Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo

Winemaking: The grapes are selected from small vineyards spread in the Barolo region. The vines are between 7 and 40 years old, planted in a clay-limestone soil. Plants are trained with guyot method, with an average density of roughly 4500 units per hectare. All the different crus are vinified and aged separately with slightly different processes to underline the singular characteristics of each parcel and terroir. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel with daily cap submersion for extraction of flavor and color.

Aging: The wine is aged for roughly 30 months in oak and barriques; all parcels are then carefully blended before bottling.

“Beautiful glowing ruby. Fine earthy nose, but right now quite backward. Succulent palate with a powerful tannic structure. Really long and a little vibrant. Firm, long red-fruit finish”

2015 Renato Ratti Barolo ‘Marcenasco’ ( Nebbiolo) Langhe Barolo Piemonte

Barolo Marcenasco is smooth, balanced, elegant and faithfully reflects the typical characteristics of the La Morra sub zone. It represents the history of the Renato Ratti legacy, and was first vinified in 1965. About 30% of the wine is aged in barrique (225L), the remainder in large oak botti (5000L).

92 POINTS - Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate: This is a beautifully fully and generous expression from a vineyard that has historically been farmed by the Ratti family of La Morra. The Marcenasco cru is located directly under the winery, and although it is not in the official list of MGA crus, the vineyard name is registered to this winery. In the 2015 Barolo Marcenasco, you get the full fruit and dark berry nuances of the vintage with pretty softness and approachable, supple tannins. This wine celebrated its 50th anniversary (1965-2015) with this vintage. 60,000 bottles were produced.

2013 Produttori Del Barbaresco Barbaresco ( Nebbiolo) Barbaresco Piemonte:

Rose, iris, red woodland berry and cake spice are just some of the alluring aromas you'll find on this radiant red. The vibrant elegant palate delivers succulent strawberry, red cherry, licorice and cinnamon alongside silky tannins. Bright acidity gives it impeccable balance. . KERIN O’KEEFE Wine Enthusiast

“It finally happened—the world has awakened to one of its greatest wine treasures, the Produttori del Barbaresco. Since 1958, the Produttori has been the reference point for classic Barbaresco. And since their launching in 1967, the Produttori’s Riservas have been the defining expressions of Rabajà, Asili, Ovello and Barbaresco’s other noble vineyards.

The Produttori was founded in the crushing poverty of the 1950s, when the parish priest organized 19 struggling growers to make wine communally. With time, the Produttori grew to about sixty members—owning the lion’s share of the greatest vineyards. Even today, many of Barbaresco’s best growers are members, occupying the greatest sites and pooling their fruit. In lesser years, only one wine is made, but in great vintages, up to ten magical Barbarescos can be made: the often astonishing flagship Barbaresco plus nine single-cru Riservas. The Produttori still uses traditional methods: an 18 to 21-day primary fermentation with aging for up to three years in botti. Such techniques yield gloriously transparent wines, affording a unique opportunity to explore the region’s finest terroirs.- TheVinePress.com.au
