“Sagra di Verdure Primaverili e Frutti di Bosco” - September Tasting Night at Frank's
Wednesday 28 August 2024: 4-course dinner with matching wines at Sagra Restaurant, Darlinghurst, $190pp
The name of this restaurant made it an easy choice for our first dinner. Chefs Ed Saxton and Michael Otto are creating for us a magnificent 4-course menu that will highlight the distinctive flavour of the Globe Artichoke (Carciofo) and the spectacular colour and refreshing tang of the Blood Orange (Arancia Rossa).
Our first event, Winter Tasting Night in July 2024 featuring chestnuts, was a huge success. We are pleased to announce that moving forward, we will be holding two Monthly ‘Sagra’ events - a Saturday Tasting Night inside our little shop and a Wednesday Dinner at one of our favourite Sydney Restaurants.
'Sagra' is an Italian word for a celebration around particular seasonal ingredients. We intend to use these celebrations to inspire new ideas for your cooking and entertaining at home and provide an opportunity for our community to share a meal together.
Our Sagras are small, intimate events so tickets are limited and will sell fast. We recommend that you don’t wait too long to book! Booking links are below.
John & Bree Velluti invite you to join us on Saturday Night 20 July for Aperitivo 5.30pm-7.30pm inside our Haberfield Fruit Shop for our Winter Tasting Night. Your $30 ticket includes food prepared by Little Sicily and wine tasting that will be focused around our featured seasonal ingredient - the castagna or chestnut. Come and learn how to prepare and cook this very nutritious and very delicious nut. Tickets are limited due to the size of our shop. This is a standing event (no seating).
Roberta Muir Be Inspired by Roberta will host the evening and lead our conversation around the versatility of the chestnut, how and where they are grown in Australia and their significance in Italian food culture and cooking. Roberta is a well-known food writer having co-written and published cookbooks with many of Sydney’s best chefs and ran Australia’s largest recreational cooking school, Sydney Seafood School at Sydney Fish Market for 23 years. Hear about Roberta's upcoming Food & Wine tour in Emilia-Romagna.
Peter Zuzza of Atelier de Vino will profile each of the wines that you will be tasting and you will be able to buy wine on the night. A well-known Sydney restaurateur and having been in the hospitality industry for almost 40 years, Peter is a passionate wine enthusiast.
