2021 Franz Haas Pinot Grigio IGT - Montagna Alto Adige
Franz Haas :
The vines here reflect the challenging extremes of viticulture. Freezing winters, hot summers moderated by cool breezes from Lago di Garda and the surrounding mountains, and significant differences between day and night temperatures provide pristine fruit.
The wines are characterised by crisp fruit and refreshing acidity with real personality and ageing potential. The flagship white, Manna, is a blend of Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Traminer and Kerner offering rich complexity, layered fruit and texture with a long finish. Their Pinot Nero, one of the country’s finest, is delicate and perfumed with wild strawberry and raspberry notes, the palate silky and smooth.
Pinot Grigio DOC :
From vineyards between 600-800 metres with soils with a high content of clay and lime, this is fermented off skins at controlled temperature, mostly in stainless steel with 20% in old barriques and aged on lees for a few months for a fuller body and complexity. Bright aromas of acacia flowers, fresh hay.
