2021 Tenuta Montanello Langhe Nebbiolo - Langhe Piedmont
The fruit is sourced from the Montanello Cru, which is owned and farmed almost entirely by the Racca family. This MGA is advantageously positioned on the west side of the road that splits the commune, with feet in the silty, sandy, clay-based Sant’Agata Fossil Marl soils of that section of Barolo. Alberto takes his fruit for the Langhe Nebbiolo from the west-facing section of the vineyard and also from the lower part of the 250–300-metre elevation slope of south-west-facing vines that are used for their Barolo.
From a cracker vintage, this is a wine that has a beautiful balance of sweet fruit and Castiglione Falletto structure. It is perfumed with fresh rose petals and potpourri and packed with juicy but delicate red fruits with a hint of anise. The palate shape is juicy with ripe but firm tannins and a bright lengthy finish.
