2018 PIPAN STEEL Nebbiolo ‘Tesoro’ - Alpine Valley Victoria

from A$160.00

Pipan’s Steel' MO is to produce Australia’s best Nebbiolo, and we believe they are heading toward this goal, and fast. It took Paula Pipan and Radley Steel 15 years to find the perfect site and plant almost a decade ago at 400 metres ASL on a steep, granitic, north facing slope in the Alpine Valleys, just outside the townships of Myrtleford and Mudgegonga; in view of the commonly snow-covered Mount Beauty. The minuscule 2 ha vineyard is planted East-West to only three clones of Nebbiolo; Mat 7, 9 & 10, with vine material sourced directly from Italian Oenology specialists, ‘Gruppo Matura’. Following experience in Barolo with Chiara Boschis, Paula employs uber traditional winemaking techniques; warm fermentations, post fermentation macerations commonly north of 60 days, and 2 years maturation in large old cask before a further 2 years in bottle before release. Some of the most serious Nebbiolo’s are emerging with a bright, bright future ahead
